Marios Argiros is an Iyengar Teacher who combines teaching yoga with his work as a Classical musician. He came to yoga originally through neck and back problems he had been unable to solve with other therapies and found that Iyengar Yoga had a transforming effect on his life and his work as a musician. He has studied and practised yoga for many years, completed his teacher training at the Manchester and District Iyengar Yoga Institute and has studied with such eminent teachers as Jeanne Maslen in Manchester and the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Memorial Institute in Pune, India. He teaches regular classes at the Manchester and Sheffield Iyengar Yoga Institutes and in his own studio in the Peak District, and in addition works with many performers, using yoga to reduce tension, build strength and improve focus in their work. In 2005 he began teaching yoga holidays in Crete, the fulfilment of a long-held dream. In January 2008 Marios visits Pune for another month-long intensive with the Iyengar family and hopes to pass on much of what he has learnt there in the coming months. Marios is fully insured and qualified to a level which enables him to undertake remedial work with injuries and chronic conditions, and finds that these students benefit enormously from the precision of Iyengar Yoga. |
