About Marios
Marios was inspired early in his yoga journey by Tricia Booth and Jeanne Maslen, who both encouraged him to follow the Iyengar yoga teacher training course at Manchester and District Institute of Iyengar Yoga. Having been a professional classical musician his whole life until then, he found that the concentration, discipline and self-practice needed in music could be applied to yoga in the same way. He qualified in 2002.
He has been a Senior Intermediate Level 3 (new level 3) teacher for many years, and continues to make visits to India to study with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Memorial Institute in Pune, and also with Jawahar Bangera and Firooza Ali.
He now divides his time between Hertfordshire and Greece, and combines teaching local classes and yoga therapy with giving workshops all over the UK and Europe.

Marios’s family are from Greece and Cyprus, and he was already very familiar with Crete when in 2005 he found a beautiful venue for teaching yoga holiday courses. The island has felt like a second home for over thirty years, and he now spends several months there each summer studying and teaching yoga. He is inspired not only by his teachers, but also by his students, and the power of Iyengar yoga to work with and improve some very challenging conditions.
Yoga was instrumental in his own recovery from a serious car accident, and he feels enormous gratitude to have worked with Guruji in the medical classes in Pune. In late 2018 Marios spent several weeks in India, culminating in the Iyengar centenary celebration in Pune where he was very fortunate to experience Geeta Iyengar’s last teachings.

About Anna

Anna joined Marios’ children’s yoga classes as a child and loved them. Music then took over in her teenage years, but she was in Crete every summer with the family and often took part in yoga weeks.
Yoga became more important in her life as a young adult and she joined Marios’ classes as often as she could. Then while living in Bristol as a student, she attended classes at Yogawest several times a week and in her final year of university joined the teacher training course. With Marios she took part in the Iyengar centenary celebration in Pune in 2018 and then passed her assessment in June 2019.
Anna now combines teaching yoga, at the South London Iyengar Institute and privately, with her work in music and film. Her particular passion is stop-motion animation, with some of her work being nominated for multiple awards.
